yea i thought that lost wind and FF graphics were pretty good, they looked really sharp even when in 480i shame that on 26'' tv it has a boarderGraphically: Wiiware slaps full blown W ...
There seems to be more quality control for Wiiware than actual games. How backwards. It could also just be that because Wiiware games are shorter, the developers have a lot more time to polish their games and make them pretty.
You know, you should not play a game just because it has good graphics. If you are, then you have the wrong system. The Wii is never going to be that great graphically. Yea, some games are terrible looking, but who cares is they play awesome. Its the games like Farcry that come out that could be really good, but suck. A game like No More Hereos doesnt look that great(it has it own style, which is what i like) but the gameplay is awesome. Yea, SMG and MP3 are great games, that look great as well, but 3rd parties as we know dont care. it isnt Nintendo's fault. Sadly, too many people only care about how the game looks, and not how it plays, or that it has a C+ story at best.
Tell that to my friend

Hey, I'm all for gameplay over graphics, but even the most optimistic wii owner has to admit that it is clear that some developers are not even trying. I use RE4 as my litmus test. If the Wii is at minimum 1.5 more powerful than the GC, then why the hell shouldn't all wii games look at least as good as RE4? It doesn't make any sense. The only explanation is that they are simply not trying because people like us keep saying gameplay over graphics. Wii owners send the message that visuals are not important, and that's simply not true. They're not as important, but they're still important.
Sad but, true:(
I think that people are forgetting that side scrollers vs. free roaming graphics draw different amount of power. MLAAK doesn't look as good as Galaxy or MP3. Don't get me wrong, it's solid graphics, but it's not the top of the line. And Lost Winds has impressive visuals, but they also only have to animate half of everything. On top of this, these indie development teams take a much greater interest in the completed project because of the small hands on nature of the project. A team that is more dedicated to the title is going to put out a superior product then an assembly line type development team that has people who spend all day for 3 years making the perfect noses.
I agree with theragu40.
yeah Lostwinds and FF look really nice. the best looking normal Wii games are Mario Galaxy, RE 4 Wii Edition, and Brawl, and one of those is a last-gen port. that's pretty sad. people need to realize that the Wii is a bit more powerful than they think. but there's still a bit of hope i guess. have you seen the engine that High Voltage's The Conduit will be running on? cuz it's nice.

The Wii provides enough power for game developers to create their visual style with the exception of hyper-realism. It's unfortunate that most games would rather employ realism on every game rather than exploit all the art styles available to them.
The only ''budget'' type game that looks great on WiiWare right now is LostWinds and that looks great but also doesn't have much to it as far as on screen happenings.

Also most Wii games that have bad grafix also have bad gameplay because the dev just didn't care about the game as a whole, No More Heroes is an exception though. I hope the sequal (if there is one) to No More Heroes looks better on a technical level and is a bit longer because its a good game but in no way worth $50 IMO.
From the videos I've seen Lost Winds looks amazing by any standard. Good art styles tend to stand the test of time. I don't get why people are so into realism to be honest because games that try to be realistic are always out-done 6 months later and forgotten most of the time. That's why I like Wii - the considerably lower specs encourage developers to create a good art style.
I'm just glad WiiWare isn't just another channel with some minigame\arcade collections (atleast not only). It gives independent software developers a good opportunity to create some unigue stuff, and by the looks of it it's shaping up pretty interresting. I'm personally looking forward to Lost Winds, PoP and especially World of Goo which looks very intiutive.

I have it, and although the game is a lot of fun and is worth $10, I can't say that the graphics are amazing. They are better than the N64 graphics that you get for $10 with n64 games, but they don't look better than any of the first Gamecube games that came out, and its nowhere near Wii games.

It was in development for years. I think it was 4 years. Don't expect most Wii games to look even close to RE4 unless the developers are willing to spend a lot of time and money. LostWinds does look great, especially the final boss. FF on the other hands does not look so amazing. It's still slightly above many 3rd party efforts though. >_>

I completely understand that RE4 was in development for a long time. But from everything that I've heard/read, the Wii is essentially a gamecube with improved hardware. So it's not like any developers need to relearn how to code for it. They should already know how, only they have more power at their fingertips this time. 1.5 times as powerful certainly is not a lot compared to a normal generational leap...but I don't think it's too much to expect that Wii games should at minimum look better than PS2 games, and right now there's quite a few that would not pass that test.

YES gamplay over graphics
but i think what alot of people are trying to say is that 3rd aren't trying hard at all...SMG and MP3 look GREAT so we KNOW what the wii can put out, so why can't 3rd parties TRY harder...cause they KNOW the wii can put out very good graphics
idk why nintendo has to be the only developers to use the wii right and at 100%
