Looking back on Wii: From Revolution to ...

I was just browsing IGN's site and came across an old interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, during E3 2005 before the white box we know as Wii was still called Revolution and didn't have much solid info. People were mesmerized at its design and the possibilites of what it could do that would 'Revolution-alize' gaming as we know it. People questioned what Zelda: Twilight Princess would look like, what the next Mario game would play like and how the Metroid Prime trilogy would be completed, on the Revolution. Reading the interview with the knowledge that I know today of where the Wii has come I remember me having goosebumps watching E3 2006 on G4TV and seeing Miyamoto do all those things. Who knew those goosebumps were a positive indicator of things to come. At the moment Wii hasn't even hit the peak and Nintendo is still saying that they have surprises to reveal (Kid Icarus, new IPs, Starfox, Kirby maybe) and they have just released their new download service to distribute current Wii-developed software to Wii owners. Wii has come a long way from the gaming revolution that it was hyped to be to the successful gaming sensation that so many Nintendo-haters love today. Looking back on Wii: From Revolution to ...

Don`t think it will stop, not even in a distant future, jajajaj!!!
I am excited for what else Nintendo is planning to release for the Wii. I wonder if they are gonna revive a lot of old school games soon. That would be great!
Yeah man.... good times.
I remember way back when Nintendo announced that is new console was going to be named the Wii. Many people got pissed and thought is was an unsuitable name for a ''Revolution-ary'' new system. Now looking back I can see Wii is the perfect name.

The funniest thing i remember was watching G4TV and Morgan Webb was saying 'C'mon, really? How different could their controller be?'

Bet you feel pretty dumb now, huh Morgan?

[/QUOTE] On the note about G4TV it disappeared from my Digital Cable package yesterday. It's reallly odd how that the only channel missing... *scratches head
agreed ,, we had already a good amount of quality titles from nintendo and 3rd party. . and the nice accessories like wii wheel ,, with mariokart. wii has a VERY BRIGHT FUTURE and today , nintendo sold through over 25 million , units. this is not even 2 yrs byet, and again we still havent seen disaster day of crisis, and or other various promising titles, it will not stop , and concering last gen, sony only succeeded because of hype of all consoles that offered 4 player support, n64 gc dc xbox , ps2 was the only one to force you to buy a seperate adapter for it, if you wanted it , and many ps2 games were single player to begin with, somthing sony was known for and less exclusives then ps1 ,, makes me wonder how ps2 or even ps1 got off the floor, i like ps1 and ps2 but nintendo has always re invented gaming, from n64 we saw 4 controller ports and impressive 3d graphics gc we saw alot of accesories like the gameboy player , , and first nintendo console to be disc based, the wii does motion sensing and has alot of innovative channels including a news weather nintendo channel and every one votes channel, and loads of good games across all platforms,
I loved watching the new trailers and hearing about all the possibilities that could be explored at the time prior to the Wii. I knew my Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games would be delivered along with new creative ideas.

Though I must say...I honestly remember knowing I would get the Revolution, but in the back of my mind feeling like it wouldn't be able to compete - as I thought with the DS. As we all know, the Wii is a big hit along with the DS and Nintendo is collecting cash by the second - I actually bought a second Wii Wheel after consistently telling myself I wouldn't because my mom and brother thought it would be best if we had two. That's fifteen bucks for some plastic and I'm pretty sure a huge chunk of that is profit for Nintendo.

Nintendo has successfully held onto their old audience and has also brought in new gamers. It's kind of like they're starting over and have gone through a reincarnation. This time their stronger than before. :P
